Massachusetts Public College and University Emergency Fund Pilot Program

The Emergency Fund Pilot program is designed to provide financial assistance to students for unexpected or untimely expenses. Expenses covered under this program may include the following: room and board (rent, food, housing supplies), books and supplies (computer or laptop, Wi-Fi), childcare (daycare, diapers, clothing), healthcare (insurance, dental, emergency and mental health services), transportation (automotive expenses, bus, commuter rail). Other expenses related to extenuating family circumstances that may be hindering your educational experience may be considered.

In order to be considered for this funding you must meet the following criteria.

  • A legal resident of Massachusetts for at least one year prior to the start of the academic year, according to the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA)
  • A United States citizen or a non-citizen eligible under Federal Title IV regulations
  • Currently enrolled as a full or part-time undergraduate student in a degree program (as of Fall 2023, and has not earned a previous bachelor’s degree)
  • Have a current 2023-2024 FAFSA on file
  • Be Pell eligible
  • Currently making SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) or granted an appeal
  • Must have unmet financial need with respect to the total Cost of Attendance (COA)
  • Priority in awarding funds will be given to students that are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant

Completion Grant Pilot Program

The Completion Grant Pilot (CGP) is designed to increase the graduation and success rate of students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program. This program provides grant assistance to students who demonstrate financial need to assist with their overall cost of attendance (COA), with emphasis on tuition, fees, and books.

In order to be considered for this funding you must meet the following criteria.

  • A legal resident of Massachusetts for at least one year prior to the start of the academic year, according to the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA)
  • A United States citizen or a non-citizen eligible under Federal Title IV regulations
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and has earned a minimum of 23 credits, towards a first bachelor’s degree
  • Have a current 2023-2024 FAFSA on file
  • Be Pell eligible
  • Currently making SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) or granted an appeal
  • Must have unmet financial need with respect to the total Cost of Attendance (COA).
